Information Communication Technology career Program

The ICT program at Butte College was the vision of  Professor Emeritus, Kenneth Couch in the late 1990s. He began a partnership with the Private Industry Council to create a community college IT workforce training program and provide the basic skills that employers need to support their IT infrastructure.

Linda Fischer was a part of that early implementation, and has continued to expand the program with Cyber Security and Systems Administration Certificates and Associates Degrees. We are a Cisco Networking Academy and a CompTIA Academy.

Linda brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role as an ICT instructor at Butte College, a position she has proudly held since the Summer of 2005. With a background as a a commercial low-voltage installer, systems administrator, and the owner of a consulting/repair company, Linda has been immersed in the world of technology for many years.

Her journey began with an Osborn, one of the early personal computers, igniting a lifelong passion for technology. Her enthusiasm for fixing things, voiding warranties, and constantly learning about new technologies is infectious. Linda is dedicated to sharing her love and extensive knowledge of technology with her students. She is deeply committed to guiding them through the ever-evolving landscape of Information Communication Technology (ICT), ensuring they acquire the necessary skills for successful and rewarding careers. With Linda, students don’t just learn about technology; they become inspired to be part of its future.

Recognizing the need for inclusion and support, she was co-founder of Women in Non-Traditional Careers Coalition (WINCC) in 2006. She continues to spread her love of technology by advising the Butte College student ACM Chapter and Computer Science Club,  hosting high school cyber camps, job shadowing camp, and community outreach.
